Why the Leadership Models Quiz is Not Suitable For Me

It used to be that I could do my leadership models quizzes to see if I was on the right track. Sometimes I would ace them, and other times, I would fail miserably. Maybe I just wasn’t very good at the material. No matter what the reason, I always felt bad that I hadn’t nailed any of the questions. It’s a shame that there were questions that I could have nailed, but the main problem was that I didn’t know how to get past the “I am too busy” barrier.

That all changed when I took the APMP leadership models quiz. The results were impressive. They showed me that I was moving in the right direction, but the hurdle was still in front of me. There was no way I was going to get there without learning the material. At that point, I decided that I was going to have to really invest in learning the material. So, I made the choice to get serious about becoming a better leader by taking the leadership models quizzes.

The results were much more encouraging than I could have ever imagined. Not only did the quizzes help me understand what I needed to learn, but I was able to put everything together in a way that allowed me to learn on my own. I learned quickly and I kept learning. It wasn’t long before I felt that I understood the material and I was ready to take the next step.

When I first decided to take my leadership models quiz for me, I thought that I was making a mistake by not putting the information into practice. If I had simply put the information in the test book and followed the directions, I would have been ready to pass the test. I would have learned how to communicate with others effectively and how to lead effectively. However, the information that I needed to learn had been sitting there in the back of my mind for years. So, it took me quite a bit of effort and perseverance to actually put all the pieces of the puzzle together.

After learning how to communicate with others effectively, I knew that I had mastered the most important skill for managing effectively. I knew, however, that I still had a lot of work to do in order to be an excellent manager. That’s when I decided to take another look at the leadership models.

When I revisited the quizzes, I realized that I had overlooked something critical. The quizzes asked me to list three or four things that I felt were important. The problem was that I often didn’t even have a good understanding of what those four things were! So, I ended up having to take yet another refresher course just to pick up where I left off a few months before. That was one of the reasons why I took so long to learn how to use these models.

So, I finally realized that it wasn’t the quizzes that were holding me back. It was the fact that I was trying to figure out the model that was really working for me. If I were to take another look at the leadership models quiz, I would discover that it was really all about learning new skills. I had to learn new techniques and strategies that were specifically relevant to my own work. Then I would apply those to other areas of my own life.

Now that I understand why the quizzes are irrelevant, I can take my leadership models quiz for me. I’ll be able to see whether or not the models that I am using are working for me. Once I do that, I can go out and use the techniques and strategies that I have learned. If they’re effective, then I’m going to save myself time, money and effort by simply continuing to use them. In the end, if they are not working, I have no problem changing them.
